Bacon and Bullock are perfect pairing

Teenagers Matthew Bacon and Aaron Bullock wrapped up their 2009 season with a convincing win in the EDP Norfolk Junior Foursomes at Bawburgh.

Bacon (Costessey Park) and Bullock (Caldecott Hall) finished three shots clear of the field after returning a fighting gross score of three-over par 75 - on a wet and windy day.

They didn't appear to be likely champions after the first few holes when they were four over par after the seventh. But they found their form and completed the rest of the round in one-under par, helped by two birdies.

"Neither of us played very well to start with," said Bacon, 17. "Then we settled down, started playing better and that took the pressure off us."

The pair are regular foursomes partners and prominent local players. Bacon, who is now a scratch golfer, has already this year won the Derek Rains Scratch Knockout Trophy and is also a past winner of the EDP Foursomes, with a different partner. Bullock, who plays off two, is 18 and in his last year as a junior. They have both been regular players for the county boys' team and Bacon is also a Norfolk first team player.
