Jury sent out in death charge solider trial

The jury who will decide the fate of a solider accused of killing a man in the heart of Norwich's nightclub district have been sent out to consider their verdict.

The trial of Daniel Gooda, at Norwich Magistrates Court, is close to a conclusion after the jury were sent out just before 4pm today.

His alleged victim Timothy Moore, a father of two from Templemere, Norwich, died following an incident during a night out in the Prince of Wales Road area of Norwich in March.

Household cavalry trooper Gooda, who is based at Combermere Barracks, Windsor, but is from the Norwich area, denies manslaughter, affray and common assault.

The assault charge relates to an alleged attack on a police officer while Gooda, 26, was being treated for an injury at the James Paget University Hospital, Gorleston.

The jury have now be sent home for the night, and are expected to deliver their verdict tomorrow.
