Porsche driver jailed after crash

A judge said it was a miracle that no one was seriously injured or killed after a Porsche driver caused a serious crash on the Norwich southern bypass by his dangerous driving.
Timothy Hall, 44, was driving along the bypass when he undertook a line of cars passing a slow moving vehicle and then crashed into a 4x4 vehicle when he switched back into the other lane, causing the car to spin out of control and hit another vehicle before it left the road and ended up down an embankment.
The 4x4 was extensively damaged and passenger Maureen Parry did need hospital treatment, Norwich Crown Court heard.
Guy Ayers, prosecuting, said that in an impact statement Mrs Parry said she still suffers from continuing problems as a result of the crash both physical and psychological.
Hall stopped after the crash and at first denied there was anything wrong with his driving but Mr Ayers said that it was abundantly obvious to other witnesses that he had caused the crash: “He was entirely responsible for the accident that took place.”
Hall of Lawn Crescent, Thorpe End, near Norwich, admitted dangerous driving on February 21 this year.
The court heard he had a previous conviction for speeding last year.
Jailing him for six months and imposing a 12-month driving ban Judge Paul Downes told him: “This was an appalling piece of driving. How someone was not seriously hurt or killed was something of a miracle.”
Michael Clare, for Hall, said: “It is the only accident he has had in 27 years of driving. He feels extremely remorseful about it.”
