A man was killed and six people taken to hospital following two separate crashes in Norfolk during the early hours of this morning.
The 21-year-old man who died was a pedestrian involved in a collision with a car in Newmarket Road, Norwich, at just after 3am.
He suffered extensive head injuries and died at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, a police spokesman said.
The driver of the Citroen Picasso, a 45-year-old male from Norwich, suffered shock as a result of the collision.
The victim has yet to be formally identified by police whilst family members are traced and contacted.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or to the manner of driving of the vehicle, or location of the pedestrian prior to the collision, to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wymondham on 0845 4564567.
Meanwhile, a police investigation is underway after six people had to go to hospital - one with a fractured pelvis - after a car crashed off a Norfolk road early today.
One person had to be lifted out fire crews after the accident at the junction of Swaffham Road and Watton Road at Ashill at about 12.45am.
Fire crews from Watton and Swaffham were called to release the person and there were also six other casualties.
The firefighters were at the scene for more than an hour and a half.
It appears all seven people had been in the car and six of them went to hospital.
A police spokesman confirmed the incident was being investigated.
