Outstanding Achievement Award
2009 Outstanding Achievement Award winner Catherine Temple with Henry Watt of Animal Inns.

WINNER - Outstanding Achievement
Catherine Temple
The words "Mrs Temple's Cheese" are spoken with reverence by all Norfolk food lovers. Soft veined Binham Blue, crumbly Walsingham, gooey Melton Mozarella, creamy Wighton, Edam-style Warham and now the Camembert-like Copys Cloud - these are the award-winning names that have made Catherine's reputation across Norfolk. But it's as much for her educational work as her quality cheesemaking that Catherine has won this award. Realising that we were losing the engagement between consumer and producer, Catherine threw herself into re-establishing an understanding of food production. Primary schoolchildren visit Copys Green Farm to learn about the food chain, university students come to explore sustainable food manufacturing, and hoteliers, caterers and others involved in the hospitality industry are taught an appreciation of cheesemaking. Catherine continues to spread the message at farmers' markets and demonstrates her artisan trade at events such as the Spring Fling and Healthy Schools Day. To think, it all began 11 years ago with a library book, a thermometer, a plastic bucket and a rather large quantity of enthusiasm!
