Finally, businesses should be able to demonstrate how they contribute to their local economy.

2009 Winner

Further Search Marketing - Steve Jaggard, Founder/Director of Communications:- Above and beyond our successes for clients, this award takes into account the Further's business performance, strategy, management and culture. Winning it, therefore, would be an endorsement that we are, indeed, getting things right. As search marketing is still an emerging sector, it is vital to gain the trust of potential clients out there and we believe such an award can only help to add credibility to the Further brand.

2009 Finalists

The Pigs
The Pigs is that perfect combination of a real ale pub and a good eatery. Head chef Tim Abbot and manager Cloe Wasney have hit media headlines across the world with stories of their bartering scheme for local produce, and for loaning an area of their garden as free allotments for the local community. Tim buys true Norfolk produce – Norfolk-reared meat, fish from the North Sea delivered daily, and fruit and vegetables from Norfolk farm shops and local residents. They have also a kids'cookery club that takes place every other Saturday morning. "We might even get some pigs next," says Cloe.

Right Angle Events
The appliance of science is very much alive at Right Angle Events, operated from the Taverham home of Steve and Kate Gaskin, both retired from the Metropolitan police. They offer "hands-on" crime scene investigation/forensic science experiences for schools and colleges and the world of corporate team building. Additional markets are opening up, including youth activities, parties and cruise ship entertainment. Using local suppliers has been a key to their success and their growing list of clients, although they have recently recruited a group of associates who are delivering their events around the country.

Further Search Marketing
Zak Ireson and Steve Jaggard, founders of Further, present an interesting blend of youth and experience. Together, they have carved a niche in search engine optimisation and social media marketing which has won clients around the globe, including Expedia, based in Seattle, and Dubai-based Gulf News. More than 80pc of clients come from recommendation. The 17-strong agency has attracted staff from Wales and Scotland and uses local suppliers online marketing seminars for local businesses. This a marriage of talents that looks sure to meet Further’s vision of being the most respected supplier of trusted and ethical results.
