A Wymondham-based manufacturing company has secured a contract with Islington Council to make and install more than 20 windows

AWD, which has been trading since 2006 from its base in Fitzmaurice Court, was primarily set up to supply bespoke windows and doors to the residential sector across Norfolk and Suffolk.

But managing director Trevor Westbrook-Lay said the business saw the capital as a great opportunity for growth in 2013.

“With the continued investment in the A11 we are now only a couple of hours away from London so location isn’t a barrier and have recently installed systems in Portobello Road, and West and North London,” he said. “The Islington Council contract was won under stiff competition and consists of installing our bespoke windows to the buildings at Tufnell Park. We had to meet the architects’ specification and match the current design as it was important to make sure that the building met local authority guidelines. Tufnell Park was bombed heavily during the war and it is one of many open spaces in North London that were created when the area was re-developed in the l950s.”

The windows are due to be installed later this month.
