All businesses have one thing in common – people.

And it is having the right people which can separate a good business from a great one. But it is great employers who create the right conditions for their staff to thrive.

That people-centred ethos is enshrined in the EDP Business Awards best employer category.

Sponsored by Pure Resourcing Solutions this popular award category aims to identify the businesses and organisations which demonstrate success by putting their employees at the heart of everything they do.

Lynn Walters, director at Pure, said: “Employee engagement can boost productivity, innovation and, ultimately, the bottom line. It is also key to retaining existing staff by building long-term loyalty and supporting their wellbeing, and in attracting top quality workers.

“It can also enhance your brand among external stakeholders. SMEs and major corporates alike can create effective engagement strategies, and as a regional recruitment consultancy firm, we strive to support organisations in being the best employers possible. After all, it is of great benefit to everyone.”

This award recognises a business that demonstrates a clear vision and understanding of what keeps teams motivated and
engaged.

The judges will be looking for strong internal communication, how staff contribute energy and ideas, get involved in the local community or contribute to good causes and an organisation that helps staff to take responsibility for their wellbeing.

The judges will also want to see how the organisation recognises and rewards exceptional performance, develops their
people and any initiatives that sets them apart as an exceptional employer.
