After a few tense days of negotiation the new owner of Banham Poultry was announced on Friday.

The sale to Chesterfield Poultry secures around 1,000 jobs at the Attleborough-based company.

– Chesterfield Poultry is based in the town of Chesterfield, Derbyshire. It is a meat processor and wholesaler, suppling halal chicken to UK businesses.

– It processes around 1,200,000 birds a week – slightly more than the 1,000,000 Banham Poultry was producing each week when it went up for sale.

– Chesterfield Poultry's products are sold in grocery stores and small supermarkets around the UK.

– According to Companies House, the company was incorporated (founded) in 2002 and has two active directors, Mohammed Fayez Ahmed and chief executive Nadeem Iqbal.

– In its most recently filed accounts, for the year to June 30, 2017, the company reported turnover of £75.48m (an increase of 25% on the previous year) and a profit before tax of £2.4m.

– Chesterfield Poultry was named in the Derby Telegraph and University of Derby's Top 200 in 2017, a league table of businesses which had been major contributors to Derbyshire's success and promoted its image on the national and international stages.
