Businesses across Waveney were given a financial boost today with the launch of a support scheme which will offer free advice and training workshops.
The Waveney Business Support Voucher Scheme will hopefully see 100 businesses or people thinking about setting up their own business take part in a six month trial to help boost companies and the local economy.
The scheme will see new, start up or established businesses receive up to £300 in vouchers which can be used for two free sessions with a qualified local business advisor and go towards a contribution for business skills workshops or a four day business planning course.
Business advice could range from legal issues, budgeting and using social media tools.
The Waveney-wide voucher scheme has been set up by NWES, Waveney District Council, the Waveney Business Forum and the Federation of Small Businesses.
Today the scheme was launched at the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft with business leaders stressing how vital business support was for the region.
Colin Law, leader of Waveney District Council, said the business support initiative would build on the region’s growing importance as an energy hub.
He said: “We are keen to ensure all our businesses have access to top quality support and advice.”
Drop in sessions to promote the voucher scheme will be held in Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Southwold with dates to be arranged.
