Norwich businesses can now vote in a consultation on plans to boost the profile and performance of the city centre.

The consultation on the Norwich Business Improvement District’s (BID) five-year plan opens today (Friday), with local firms able to cast their vote to decide whether the proposals go ahead.

The £5.7m blueprint for its second stint includes measures to make the city’s “gateways” of Prince of Wales Road and St Stephens Street more inviting, making the River Wensum more of a city focal point, extending the Christmas lights display, and campaigns to maximise trade during the low season and busier periods such as the Food and Drink Festival and City of Ale.

Stefan Gurney, executive director of Norwich BID, previously said he felt the organisation’s activities during its first term had provided “a good base to continue the BID’s work”.

The consultation closes on Thursday, July 27.
