Investment in the popular Castle Mall shopping centre is set to bring Norwich a new restaurant quarter.
Norwich City Centre is about to have an exciting new restaurant quarter, thanks to an expansion and repositioning of Castle Mall with dining and leisure a key focus.
Timberhill Terrace will be a contemporary, exciting social space, designed for casual Food and Beverage to complement Castle Mall's existing food court, Vue Cinema and family shopping.
Robert Bradley, Castle Mall centre manager, says: 'Timberhill Terrace will really bring together great leisure and shopping at Castle Mall with something fresh and new to people visiting the City Centre.
'We know our customers enjoy our existing food court, our range of convenient family shopping and good car parking plus we have 10,000 weekly visitors using the Vue Cinema, so more dining will add to their experience.'
Norwich is now ranked 13th in the UK for Food and Beverage (F&B) spend, and generally expenditure on eating out is steadily rising. In a recent study, specialist retail research company FSP* identified an F&B trading gap of £19m in the city. Timberhill Terrace will complement the already existing choice of dining in Norwich to help satisfy that demand.
There are nine million annual shoppers at Castle Mall, but Timberhill Terrace will be an attraction for even more due to its location in the city centre.
Norwich Castle is a big attraction with more than 4,000 visitors per week, and so Timberhill is well situated to provide another casual dining options for tourists. Also with 29,000 full and part time students at the University of East Anglia, Timberhill Terrace has impressive demographics that are really attractive to potential food operators.
Bradley adds: 'We see Timberhill as a place for everyone. It's a place where people can enjoy good, affordable food in a pleasant atmosphere. It's well located close to shops, attractions and of course the cinema. This is a great opportunity for cafe and restaurant operators looking to start up or expand.'
Timberhill Terrace is getting ready to welcome two new restaurants – Babel with a British menu and chic decor, and Cocina Mexican restaurant – and a number of other offers have been received.
