Around 16,000 people poured into the Tuesday Market Place in King’s Lynn which saw chart-topping act Scouting for Girls headline.

To the crowds delight, the indie-pop band churned out hits such as Elvis Ain’t Dead, Heartbeat and finished with the hugely popular song, She’s So Lovely.

Earlier on in the evening - which remained warm with just a small shower - West Norfolk mayor Barry Ayres took to the stage to deliver a speech.

He said: “Where else can you get a free festival as good as this - it really puts King’s Lynn on the map. The organisers have worked their socks off.

“It has been fabulous and to see all these people here. There is supposed to be a depression. Depression - what depression?”

Kings Lynn Academy kicked the evening off followed by a folk set from Addison’s Uncle and a performance from Jake Morrell.

Under the Influence got the crowd rocking and then Luciee Marie Closier from BBC’s The Voice sung at her first festival.

But there was one group that people seemed to be most excited about - Scouting for Girls.

Matthew Day, 24 from Sutton Bridge said: “We are here to see Scouting for Girls. It’s my first time here and it’s a good atmosphere here.”

Another fan of the band, Carl Wilson, from Tydd St Mary said that he was there with his family.

He said: “It’s brilliant, I come every year and this is my daughter’s first festival. We are here for Scouting for Girls.”

Chairman of Festival Too Derek Harvey said: “It’s been fantastic, it’s been a fun all day. We have had lots of people in the town centre today watching the entertainment like Punch and Judy and all the bubbles been blown everywhere.

“And we had around 20 children on stage from King’s Lynn Academy and they were absolutely brilliant.”
