The Southwold Tourist Information Centre will be moving to new premises following the closure of its current base on Friday.

The Waveney District Council-run centre has left its High Street site and a contract has now been signed for a lease at a new venue on Childs Yard, opposite the town hall.

The new tourist information will be opened in a few weeks time, ahead of the start of the Easter holidays.

In the meantime, the council will offer a service for one day a week, each Wednesday, in the town hall.

Bruce Provan, Waveney’s cabinet member for tourism and economic development, said: “I am very pleased that we are able to confirm new premises for our tourist information centre.

“Following the decision to vacate its current location, we can now look forward with confidence to the ongoing provision of helpful information about the town to visitors and holiday makers.”

Details of opening date for the new venue will be confirmed at a later date by the council.
