The Sheringham Post Office is advising their customers to get packages away by 1pm today before the shop closes for refurbishment.

From this afternoon, the Post Office will be closed until January 22.

The nearest Post Office will be in West Runton, with the next main centres based in Holt and Cromer.

Manager Lorraine Collins said: 'We're having a new facade put on and all of the old counters are being ripped out, so we'll have some lovely new ones.'

The refurbishment also means good news for the staff and local community, as it will cement the Post Office's current location which came under speculation in 2016.

'It's really good news because it means we're staying here,' said Mrs Collins.

'The owner of the shop we're based in, David Starling, continued his support for us when no one else in town offered to take the Post Office.

'He believes it's really important for the town and community, particularly as we're seeing more banks closing on our high street. It's important because residents can still come and do some of their basic banking here.'
