Norfolk’s economy is set to be put under the microscope in a new survey analysing the county’s top performing firms.

The Norfolk Ltd survey is being revived by Grant Thornton which will analyse the performance of the largest 100 independent firms in the county using data from company accounts.

The firm, which sponsors the EDP International Business Awards, said the snapshot - which it last carried out in 2006, said it will provide a key barometer of business performance and the changing marketplace of the county. The study will also consider the contribution of start-up activity in Norfolk as a driver of future growth.

The Norfolk Ltd results will be presented at a special breakfast event on Tuesday June 3 at Norwich City Football Club, attended by many of the county’s top business leaders with a panel of guest speakers who will take part in a Q&A session with delegates.

Toby Wilson of Grant Thornton’s Norwich office who is leading the event, said: “Our commentary on Norfolk Ltd is supported by Grant Thornton’s highly successful Suffolk Ltd, Cambridgeshire Ltd and Essex Ltd studies to provide a cohesive look at the individual county economies that make up East Anglia.

“Norfolk’s business landscape is diverse, encompassing long established sectors such as agriculture and tourism, and new, emerging fields like sustainability. We will be putting the Norfolk economy under the microscope and taking a look at the successful businesses that make it tick, plus a view on the young, ambitious firms which will help to stimulate future growth. The report should make very interesting reading.”

The Norfolk Ltd study will focus on key performance indicators such as profitability and employment figures, and also include a breakdown of the financial data by sector. The companies will be selected based principally on the postcode of their trading address and turnover levels.

The Norfolk Ltd results event is by invitation only, to register your interest in attending or to sign up to recieve a copy of the Norfolk Ltd report, please e-mail
