Norwich-based digital copier company Eastern Busines Systems has launched a new B2B service on the back of a £500,000 investment in a new business hub at its refurbished North Walsham Road headquarters.
The firm which is celebrating 20 years in business employs 30 staff and has a turnover of £4m a year was founded in a small industrial unit in Roundtree Close.
It also has regional offices in Cambridge, Colchester, and Peterborough, and has now moved to a new site on the former Royal Oak pub which it is converting into a sales and service hub.
Managing director Kevin Francis said new technology installed at the new interrogates hundreds of machines based in business premises throughout a territory which stretches from the east coast to the A1 and from Lincolnshire to London allowing engineers to be on their way to deal with a multifunctional device or printer issue before the customer even realises there is a problem.
“Our boundaries are expanding all the time as the business grows,” he said. “One of our larger customers is based in Erith south-east London, and we’ve also overseen installation of customers’ new EBS-supplied equipment in France, Holland, Spain and even Hong Kong for some of our global customers who like the way we do business. We are happy to do that.”
“The pace of development in this industry over the past 20 years has been amazing,” he added. “The humble photocopying machine on which we cut our teeth has been transformed into a smart multifunction, interactive device, capable of many kinds of document scanning, print management and networking functionality.”
He said the firm, which maintains more than 2,200 machines owned by customers including Bernard Matthews, Europa Worldwide Logistics, TWI and King’s Lynn-based international seed technology company Germains UK,is in the process of adding to its admin, sales and engineer sections.
And last week the company invited customers to a canape and champagne celebration of its 20 years in business.
He said: “EBS has had a wonderful 20 years and engaged many loyal customers…some of whom have been with us since day one and they are the core and key to our success,” said Mr Francis. “Having got this fantastic new premises, we were keen to invite them to share our celebrations; to say ‘This is us, and this is the technology that allows us to look after your business needs.’”
