Newly opened Norwich business Sumo Salad will go into liquidation just months after opening in Orford Place.

Jamie Playford, director of insolvency firm Parker Andrews, said the company had closed on Saturday after the London-based firm which held the UK franchise of the Australian brand went into administration.

The uncertainty about the future following the administration was compounded by the recent poor weather.

Six staff at the business have been made redundant.

Mr Playford said: 'There were a few issues when the business started with the franchise holder. There was confusion about what size the portions should be and problems agreeing the prices.'

He added: 'It also had cash flow difficulties, mainly because of the poor summer.' The Australian- style salad food outlet was started in March by former airline commercial manager Mike Dodds, who invested about 115,000 of his own funds into the venture.
