Norwich International Airport has been named seventh in the UK for annual passenger growth, according to a recent survey.

It saw a 17pc increase in traffic from 396,676 in 2012 compared to 463,401 last year, placing it in the top 10 of the CAA UK official UK airport annual traffic results.

And it also came second out of 30 UK airports for the size of its year on year percentage increase in passenger traffic.

Andrew Bell, airport chief executive, said “Posting strong passenger growth is good news for the airport and the region, as ultimately the flights that are operated from the airport must be used by the travelling public if they are to remain on offer.

“We recognise that we still have a great deal to do in order to satisfy the demands of the region’s business and leisure travellers alike and we are working hard to bring back routes that proved popular in the past, and to identify new route opportunities.

“However, the CAA result is testament to the hard work undertaken over the past few years and confirmation that the airport is moving in the right direction.”
