National airline Air Malta said it is adding four extra flights starting from Tuesday April 8 to meet a fresh demand for holidays during the Spring and Easter period.

The direct flights from Norwich airport to Malta will depart weekly through to October 21.

Andrew Bell, the airport’s chief executive, said: “Malta is an exceptionally popular destination from our region and we are pleased that Air Malta has taken the decision to increase their services and enhance the travel options from Norwich International Airport in the Spring of 2014.”

A spokesman for Air Malta said there is a noticeable increase in demand for shoulder and off-peak holidays.

  • Why is mainland Spain is still a no go for our local airport. Hardly progress.

  • Great news, despite what the usual tiresome and ill informed clutter have to say. I already have 3 flights booked from Norwich this year and think the modestly higher prices, plus the £10 fee to be well worth paying compared to having to go to Heathrow or Gatwick. We have a great airport, it seems to have good people at the helm and hopefully more routes are in the pipeline.

  • Bell should have also included "more extortion racket money for us and our bonuses". Sure as eggs are eggs, the money dose not get spent on the airport itself. Just look at the arrival area (looks more like inside a container) for the internal flights.

  • Let's have an EDP petition to get rid of the passenger tax at the airport and make Norwich International an attractive place to fly from. I'll sign now!

  • Nice advertorial, I wonder what sort of deal Norwich Airport has got with Archant? 50% discount for all those at the top? or perhaps just free travel for Ben Woods?
