A Cambridgeshire transport firm aims to win new business on the strength of achieving a prestigious British Retail Consortium (BRC) accreditation.
Brett’s Transport, based at Guyhirn, near Wisbech, has earned the BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution after months of hard work and investment.
Operations director Peter Jackson said: “We are proud of this achievement which has taken the commitment of everyone within the business. BRC accreditation demonstrates that we are operating at the highest and most rigorously controlled standards within our industry.
“We join a select number of businesses in the warehousing and distribution business to have this standard. It demonstrates the ability to manage the processes and procedures in the business and to give our customers the best service we can.
“It formalises what we do and makes us think about how we deal with customers, criticism and change.”
Brett’s Transport - founded in 1933 - employs 180 staff, mainly drivers, and has a fleet of more than 80 articulated lorries and a massive warehouse in Guyhirn which was extended in 2012.
Its core business involves the transport of ambient (room temperature) food to supermarket distribution centres, manufacturers and cash and carrys.
A Norwich-based business which started as a “man with a van” operation is eyeing further expansion after seeing its predicted turnover increase from £6,000 to £340,000 within five years.
