The privately-owned specialist aluminium business in Ayton Road was formed 45 years ago and is expanding fast following a management takeover in 2007.

Mr Freeman was given a tour of the factory and was told about the company’s growth plans to double its £6.5m turnover over the next five years.

However, the firm had struggled to attract local apprentices in recent years. He added that it was good to see the company’s commitment to the area.

“I think Barley Chalu is an excellent example of the business opportunity and challenges we face in the Wymondham, Attleborough, A11 corridor,” he said.
