Workers at an aerospace engineering company based at Norwich Airport have more job security going into the new year after the firm signed a deal with one of Europe's largest cargo flight operators.
KLM UK Engineering has secured the maintenance contract with the UK arm of West Atlantic, which has customers around the EU.
The year-long contract, to conduct maintenance checks on West Atlantic UK's Boeing 737 Freighter fleet, will begin in January.
A KLM UK Engineering spokesman said the contract, which covers enough aircraft to fill one of its five bays at the airport, would offer more security to the company and its 370 Norwich-based staff.
Technical director at West Atlantic UK, Philip Law, said: 'Having been a customer of KLM UK Engineering's for a number of years, we are very pleased to reach an agreement regarding our heavy maintenance programme. We look forward to this being the start of a long-term relationship.'
Ian Bartholomew, business development and sales director at KLM UK Engineering, said: 'We are delighted to have been selected by West Atlantic UK to carryout their heavy maintenance checks in 2018.'
