There were cheers of delight when Rob Tarrant scooped the Director of the Year Award, in this keenly-contested category.
Norwich-based Brandbank has carved out a unique niche in the highly-competitive world of supermarket online offerings.
Click any image on most of the major UK supermarkets online stores, including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and the Co-op, and it is almost certain that content was created and managed in Norwich.
From offices in north Norwich, Mr Tarrant has created a business that transforms the complicated and time-consuming process of managing online digital brand content, making it faster, more straightforward, cost-effective at both ends of the retail and supply chain.
After joining Brandbank when it was a small start-up 12 years ago as finance and IT director, he soon graduated into the CEO role, since when the business has really taken off.
Innovation is at the heart of everything Brandbank does and this is driven by his restless, open-minded creative spirit. Brandbank now employs more than 200 people in Norwich and across Europe – with 90 recruited in the last year alone.
Mr Tarrant says one of his most important roles as CEO is to “make sure everyone is on the right bus”.
Receiving the award, he said: “I work really really hard to try and bring out the best in my team. I don’t believe that I’m out there knowing everything there is to know about business, but I know that if I have the right people around me then we will be successful as a team.”
The other finalists were Steven Foster, managing director of Foster Property Maintenance, and Graham Hacon, managing director of 3Sun Group.
