A young horticultural company is hoping to flourish in Norwich after a city centre department store allowed it to sell its goods in-store.

The Plant Den opened in the basement of Jarrold on April 14 and has since been doing a roaring trade, taking four deliveries of stock in its first 10 days.

The stall is run by Roscoe Gibson-Denney and Michelle Clingan, horticultural enthusiasts with a particular interest in indoor plants who think they have spotted a gap in the local marketplace.

“Norwich city centre currently has little seller competition and we aim to be the first to trade exclusively in cacti and houseplants,” Mr Gibson-Denney said.

For retail industry worker Miss Clingan plants are just a passion, but Mr Gibson-Denney has professional experience in the field, having worked as a landscape gardener.

The pair received a start-up loan through enterprise agency Nwes to help their business germinate.
