Holiday visits to the UK on the rise, study says

There has been an increase in the number of people wanting to holiday in the United Kingdom, according to the Office for National Statistics.


Holiday visits to the UK from foreign travellers saw an 18pc rise during January and April, while visits between February and April this year were 7pc higher.

Meanwhile, the number of visits to the UK was 8pc higher than a year earlier as earnings grew 11pc.

Visits from Europe climbed 9pc, as visits from other countries rose 8pc, while business trips grew 3pc, holiday visits rose by 13pc and visits to friends or relatives grew 5pc.

But there was a 1pc fall in UK natives making visits abroad in the three months to April 2014 compared to the same period last year.
