A healthcare provider announced it will create more than 100 permanent jobs by opening a new branch.

Newcross Healthcare this week opened a branch on Orford Place in Norwich and is advertising nursing and healthcare jobs.

Over the next six to 12 months, the company predicts it will have created more than 100 jobs in acute healthcare, community and care at home.

Norwich Branch Manager Emma Plunkett said: “Newcross’ launch in Norwich is a real boost for the local economy.

“Creating over 100 permanent jobs for the local and surrounding areas is no mean feat, but we are committed to providing national experience at a local level.”

The branch will be Newcross’s 45th in the country, and the company said there would be many opportunities for people to find work.

Newcross Operations Director Geoff White said: “With our ever-expanding portfolio of branches we have continuous opportunities to welcome nurses and healthcare professionals to the Newcross team.”

The move was also welcomed by city officials, who said the number of jobs Newcross could create was “significant”.

Norwich city council leader Alan Waters said: “Norwich is a vibrant centre for employment with a thriving local economy.

“Building on this, we welcome the significant number of job opportunities brought here by companies such as Newcross investing in the city.”

  • "Newcross gives staff the flexibility to choose their own hours and work as much or as little as they wish" minimum wage ? Living wage ? as you are aware the 'Care' industry has contributed to it's poor employment reputation through low payhigh hours resulting in a number of high profile prosecutions. Professional carers need a reward system that reflects their ability not the same old 'Peanutsmonkey scenario.

  • Hi Andyjzr, thanks for commenting on our release. As el84 said, all of our positions are permanent as staff are guaranteed a minimum number of hours. Additionally, Newcross gives staff the flexibility to choose their own hours and work as much or as little as they wish.

  • Andyjzr, the fact these jobs are being said to be "permanent" means, they are not zero hours. Zero Hours means there is no permanence of work, so they cannot be described as permanent.

  • More Zero hour contracts for Norwich, how marvelous. Not to mention to use the word 'Care' when talking of so many of these companies is something of an oxymoron.
