Sheringham revs up for a carnival to remember with traditional Harley Davidson ride-out

The traditional annual Harley Davidson ride-out, which regularly attracts crowds in their hundreds, will be followed by a family tide fight to music on the beach, with other Saturday events including a morning car boot sale and live music at local pub the Crown.

Crowning day on Sunday kicks off at 11am with children's activities and games on the Leas. as well as other attractions ranging from charity stalls and a climbing wall, to a Yak 52 air display and Newfoundland dog rescue demonstration on the beach.

Town crier Andrew Cunningham will announce the arrival of Carnival Queen Mollie Gallon and her attendants Niamh Craske and Caitlin Doran at 2pm, with the royal party joined by the prince and princess for the crowning ceremony.

Carnival week continues on Monday with a sandcastle and sculpture competition, prize bingo and golf tournament, while Tuesday's events range from a prehistoric chalk-a-picture session, to the hugely popular annual street races, which kick off in High Street at 6pm.

Carnival day on Wednesday will feature a fairground, stalls and music, with dozens of floats expected for the annual parade at 6.30pm.

Carnival chairman Stuart McClean said this year's programme featured new attractions including a Wild West-themed Cowhand Express steam train, which sets off from Sheringham on Friday.

'We also have a beach mayhem event for the first time this year, so it is looking really exciting,' he added.

Traditional events, including the tugo of war, duck race and dog show, continue throughout the week, with the carnival culminating next Sunday with a torchlight procession and fireworks display.
