Boat builder makes cruiser for naval architect who designed Royal barge and vessel for TV
A Norfolk boat builder has completed a project for a famed naval architect, who has worked on vessels for the Queen and television, as he prepares to retire from the industry.
Haines Marine, based in Catfield between Great Yarmouth and North Walsham, has built a Haines 32 offshore motor cruiser for Stuart Roy – who designed the Queen’s Rowbarge Gloriana as well as Bounty’s End for Channel 4 programme Mutiny.
Haines Marine director Justin Haines said: “It’s great that our products are recognised for their design and craftsmanship, however the fact that it was well respected boat designer Stuart Roy who appreciates these aspects of our boats and of the whole build process, this makes what we do even more rewarding for all of our team.”
Mr Roy, who is retiring after 48 years in the industry, said he was delighted to find a British boatyard able to produce high quality boats.
