Despite being the only community interest company in the list, Your Own Place has the same growth ambitions as other Future50 members.
But founder Rebecca White admits her end goal may be slightly different – as she ultimately wants to put herself out of business.
Your Own Place works with young and vulnerable adults to give them the skills they need to get on in life, and to overcome the barriers that recently saw Norwich ranked 323rd out of 324 local authorities for social mobility.
The five-strong full-time team works with 240 people a year and aims to generate 75% of its income within three years as it moves towards a self-sustaining model.
“Our mission is primarily social but we don’t exist unless we operate as a business and we have to be businesslike to make a profit,” said Ms White. “I want us to put ourselves out of business, because we have come up with a solution that the community owns.”
