Baron Bigod brie makers Jonathan & Dulcie Crickmore, of Fen Farm Dairy Ltd, Bungay, were presented with the James Aldridge Memorial Award for the Best British Raw Milk Cheese after wowing judges with their farm-made product.

“This award is particularly meaningful for us as it is voted for and judged by other cheesemakers and mongers, so it is a great honour,” said Jonathan.

The annual award is presented at the Specialist Cheesemakers Association (SCA) farm visit, this year held at Westcombe Cheddar in Somerset. The trophy was originally presented to the SCA by HRH The Prince of Wales, the association’s patron. James Aldridge, a pioneer of artisan British cheese, was a passionate advocate of raw milk cheese, helping other cheese makers to work with raw milk.
