A range of inventive challenges has helped Young Farmers' Clubs across Norfolk to raise money for a host of good causes, writes FRANCES ROBERSON of Norfolk Young Farmers.

Reepham YFC's annual tractor road run on June 4 turned out to be the biggest and best yet, with more than 35 tractors of all ages and sizes.

Many families attended this year too, as many of the tractors towed trailers. The route started at Little Witchingham and went through Reepham, Sparham and other villages to finish back at Little Witchingham, where everyone had lunch and took part in a raffle to raise money for the club's chosen charity of the year, Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Reepham Young Farmers would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the club. It was fabulous to see so many faces from different clubs around Norfolk and plenty of new faces too. Next year the club are planning to make it an even bigger event.

Meanwhile, 13 Diss Young Farmers, along with two designated drivers, recently embarked on the Four Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest peaks in the four countries of the UK – Slieve Donard in Northern Ireland, Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the English Lake District, and finally Snowdon in Wales.

They completed the task in 45 hours, well within their 48-hour deadline, and raised more than £5,000 for the Farming Community Network. This is another huge achievement by Diss YFC. If you would like to show your support for the charity, please visit the web page.

And finally, keep an eye out next weekend for Wymondham YFC, who will be cycling from King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth on a four-seater bicycle. They will be travelling along the roads closest to the coast, going from King's Lynn on Saturday, June 24, camping overnight near Sheringham and then setting off again the next morning to reach Great Yarmouth. This year the club is raising funds for Parkinsons UK and the Stroke Association. If you see them, give them a wave – and any spare change.
