Energy companies in the region have been urged to support each other by using local suppliers where they can.
At his first conference today since taking over as chief executive of the East of England Energy Group, Simon Gray said he wanted to grow the trade body which has more than 350 members including local, national and international companies and urged member to get in touch and tell him about their concerns.
Mr Gray said in the opening speech at the all energy summer conference: “Try to do business with other EEEGR members and other companies in the region.
“But at the same time think globally. There are huge opportunities for us because we are a leading area.”
He said that if there was a regional company at the same price, offering the same services and standards, then if it was a regional company, it should be supported by others in the region.
