Airline Eastern Airways has apologised after cancelling a morning flight from Norwich Airport used by workers in the energy industry.

The airline grounded its 6.45am service from Norwich to Aberdeen on Monday after a warning about one of the aircraft’s engines.

The route is often used by workers from the energy sector, which has hubs in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth as well as Aberdeen.

An Eastern Airways spokesman said: “Today’s T3 722 Norwich to Aberdeen 6.45am service was cancelled this morning due to a cockpit warning indication relating to one of the aircraft’s two engines.

“We offered passengers travel on the next available flight or a full refund.

“We sincerely apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused.

“Engineers have fully inspected the aircraft, which is now back in service and operated this afternoon’s T3 726 from Norwich that has since landed in Aberdeen.

“We do acknowledge there has been some recent unfortunate disruption on the Norwich – Aberdeen route, which is not at the standard Eastern Airways or its customers have come to expect. Cancelling flights is a last resort as we will always endeavour to operate our services on-time.”
