Norwich-based discount chain QD has made a raft of top level appointments as it targets fresh growth in the retail sector.
The EDP Top100 company has recruited David Haycox as it operation’s director – a former operations controller at supermarket chain Morrisons,
He will take charge of the firm’s 48 stores, which fall under the QD, Cherry Lane Garden Centres, Thingmebob and Lathams brands. Meanwhile, the businesses’ former head of buying, James Collins, has been promoted to associate director, with Karl Ottolangui also becoming an associate director after working as the firm’s distribution centre manager.
Nick Rubins, group chief executive, said: “QD aims to grow its share of the UK’s thriving value retail sector via an omnichannel approach combining the attributes and appeal of its high street and out-of-town sites with an online counterpart that can transcend the limitations of physical retailing.
“David, James and Karl bring the requisite blend of skills to expand both online and in-store availability via effective supply chain management driven by clear consumer demand for quality, value-for-money, which in turn forms the trading ethos of our company since we launched in 1985.”
A Norfolk nursery is to expand into new premises to cope with the growing demand from families in its local area.
