An idea to capitalise on the “sports luxe” craze sweeping the female fashion market led a Norfolk science writer to launch her own range of skin care products for active women.

FitGirl, which sells luxury bath and body products made from all-natural ingredients, is the brainchild of mother-of-two Nina Goad.

Since launching in January the brand has been scouted by TK Maxx, which is stocking the products in its Greater London outlets, and online gift box service Smileaway.

Ms Goad, who works for the British Association of Dermatologists, said sales analysis showed the brand had proved popular with women who lead naturally active lives as well as the intended target market of women who work out. “I think a lot of women are becoming cynical about anti-ageing messaging and airbrushed imagery, and want functional products that embrace the ethos of women’s bodies being instruments, not ornaments,” she said.
