Co-op doubles sales of own brand bread

The Co-op has doubled sales of its own brand bread as it presses ahead with re-launching thousands of products.

More than 2.5 million of the 75p loaves have been sold in recent weeks.

The Co-op is re-launching more than 3,800 products this year, cutting prices and carrying out major refits of 1,000 stores under a £100 million investment programme.

Steve Murrells, chief executive of Co-op Retail said: "The Co-operative was historically known for the quality of its own brand produce and we are improving our brand offer once more."
