Brexit and a plunging pound have been credited with boosting a multi-million holiday home development.

Mundesley Holiday Village is being transformed into a luxury self-catering complex in a four year construction project.

The holiday park was bought by Timothy Hay from the Richardsons Group in December 2014 and its transformation is being carried out under the banner of his Dunwich-based company The Beeston Group.

Last year 26 homes were sold, with £5m in sales predicted for 2017.

The former holiday camp is modelled on vacation villages across the Atlantic in America's New England, with lodge-owners exploring the wider area also providing a welcome boost to the local economy.

Managing director Mr Hay said: 'With the falling pound, Brexit and the trend to short break holidays there is a tourism boom in the UK.

'Mundesley won second best beach in the Britain award last year - it is not so well known as Blakeney and Burnham Market, but has some beautiful villages near-by and lots of untapped potential.

'Holidaymakers buying homes here will be going out to eat in local pubs and restaurants and exploring north Norfolk - it is a win-win situation.'

Typical purchasers were from between an hour and two hours drive away and aged between their 40s to 70s according to Mr Hay.
