From Shakespeare's Hamlet performed like you have never seen it before to a rollercoaster ride through 30 years of pop, there are lots of great shows in store for audiences at The Garage.

The Norwich arts venue has just released details of its Autumn 2018 programme which offers something for everyone.

Adam Taylor, The Garage's executive director, said: 'This season we present a great selection of shows in our theatre, some have been to Edinburgh Fringe (Skin a Cat), some programmed by our youth forum (Princess Charming), and some are our very own (My First Panto: Jack and the Beansprout).'

Kicking off the season on September 5 is When We Were Reliant on the State, a gritty play about the benefits system from Six Toes Theatre, meanwhile Super Hamlet 64 on September 7 is a fast-paced retelling of Shakespeare's most famous play, full of retro animation, spoken word, live music and comedy songs from Edward Day.

On September 27 Baroque Theatre Company return with latest production Edith in the Dark, a show which journeys into the disturbing, dark and supernatural imaginings of children's author Edith Nesbit.

A number of shows explore gender and identity, including Spun Glass Theatre and Ovalhouse's Princess Charming on September 28, Rive Productions' Skin a Cat on October 4, and Milk Presents' new mythical play Bullish on October 9.

Nick Field's new show Unicorn Party looks at what happens when escapism becomes unescapable on November 2, meanwhile Paines Plough returns with Pop Music, described as a rollercoaster through 30 years of pop, on November 6, and The Garage and All-In Productions will present a Scratch Night showcasing new work from local performance companies on November 9.

Half Moon's Off The Grid, described as navigating a shocking and heartbreaking human story, is at the theatre on November 23.

Moving into the festive season, The Garage and All-In Productions present My First Panto: Jack and the Beansprout from November 30 until January 5.
