Implications for Norfolk/Suffolk

Benefits

Renewable energy is a new industry set to create a new economy in which Norfolk/Suffolk stands to gain greatly, particularly from offshore wind energy generation. Offshore wind farms have already been developed off the Norfolk/Suffolk coast, for example at Scroby Sands, and many more are planned further out to sea.

This could bring in millions of pounds of investment contributing to the local economy and providing thousands of jobs across the region. Offshore wind farms have the potential to rejuvenate the areas of Norfolk/Suffolk that have recently suffered due to the decline in the fishing and oil and gas industries.
