The Recruitment and Employment Confederation
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) is the professional association that represents the dynamic and fast-growing recruitment industry in the UK (turnover now about
£24 billion pa) and has over 7,000 corporate members and more than 6,000 individual members.
The REC is the 8th largest trade body in the UK and is a member of the international organisation representing the interests of the industry, CIETT. The REC is now
recognised as being proactive, innovative and relevant, and has recently won two Trade Association Forum Best Practice Awards - for best website and best magazine.
The REC’s main objectives are:
- To maintain and raise the standards
and reputation of the recruitment industry. It aims to achieve
this through strict membership entry criteria, adherence to best
practice procedures and by providing quality vocational training
and qualifications.
- To represent and promote the interests of REC
members and those working in the recruitment industry. The REC
lobbies on behalf of its members at Parliament, Whitehall, the
European Commission and to the press as well as with all opinion
formers. The REC speaks authoritatively on behalf of its members
and influences the people who count.
- To provide an essential service to our members.
REC members receive a unique range of benefits, which the REC
is constantly seeking to improve upon. These include a programme
of events, legal services and discounts on essential training
and support services.
IIn the Eastern Region and elsewhere throughout the UK, the REC has active representation through Regional Directors,
drawn from its many local members, who help ensure that the service provided best serves the needs of the region.
Richard Sowerby FREC, MIoD, Joint Managing Director of the Sowerby Group Ltd and Chairman of REC (Regions) Ltd said:
“As a Fellow of the REC and a Director of
the REC’s regional subsidiary company, I am well placed
to influence the organisation’s delivery of support to the
Eastern Region and, with local working group members, work hard
to ensure executive staff and the REC’s local team of Regional
Directors understand the needs of businesses in this area of the
UK. The REC is keen to see professional standards in the industry
elevated even further. The Awards programme perfectly matches
our aspiration to highlight best practice and reward those businesses
that provide exemplary service to both clients and workers. It
is our pleasure once again to be the overall sponsor of these
Awards.”
REC Chief Executive, Marcia Roberts, added:
“At the REC we regard the Norfolk Awards as an example to
all other regions as a perfect demonstration of a partnership between
the industry and its suppliers, in this case Archant Ltd. I thank
and pay tribute to the organisers for their commitment to the industry,
willingness to invest in its future and ability to host an outstanding
event, as was so brilliantly demonstrated to us last year.”
