A message from Barry Dennis,
Managing Director, Archant Norfolk
James Auckland is a promising, nationally recognised
tennis protégé and he's from Norfolk. He is 342
in the world rankings, and is the British number 7. He is also
the fastest rising British player in the world rankings, with
even greater prospects for the future.
Last year, because of his performance as the fastest
rising British tennis player in the Country he was given a wild
card to play in the All England Lawn Tennis championships at Wimbledon,
but because of a, now cured, foot injury, he could not take part.
James has the talent to break into the world top
200, but needs to play well in all of the tournaments around the
world in order to increase his rankings. The difficulty for most
up and coming sportsmen and women is realising the funding to
be able to reach the top levels, where prize money can then cover
the costs of travel, accommodation, etc.
This letter is to seek your help in providing James
with the all important funding for the next 12 months. We are
approaching a select, few companies with a choice of sponsorship
packages which will raise money for James.
I should point out that all funding raised by this
will go straight to James. We are merely using our resources to
help to organise this funding for one of Norfolk's rising stars.
Additionally we are kick-starting the campaign with
Archant Norfolk taking the first Gold Sponsorship, which will
provide James with the first £1,500 toward his £20,000
travelling and living costs which he needs.
The packages include a voucher to advertise in any
one of our newspaper titles as well as a range of additional benefits,
so that your Company gets something of commercial use out of the
sponsorship arrangement. James will even come to your offices
to help staff work out a fitness programme or coach staff who
play tennis as part of the arrangement.
Our editors are also behind this campaign and all
sponsors will be recognised editorially, so there are PR spin
off benefits too. You will also see that this letter includes
endorsements about James's prospects from people who are well
placed to comment.
We would not normally seek to help an individual in this way,
but we feel that the benefit to Norfolk of James doing well far
outweighs the traditional policy of reserving sponsorship activity
to bona fide charities. This opportunity allows us to put something
back into the community we reach, for the overall good of Norfolk.
