We took the Bramerton road off the A146, forked left along the Surlingham Road and, just before Bramerton village turned left along Mill Lane, signed Woods End. At the bottom, on the right, is a lay-by car park facing the river. Bramerton is three miles south-east of Norwich.

Although one path had not been reinstated, this was quite a pleasant four-mile walk. From the car park we walked southwards up Mill Hill, ignoring a path on the left. At the T-junction we went right, then right again into Easthill Lane. Further along we ignored a path on the right along this narrow country lane, then, at the T-junction, went right along another country lane. At the bottom of the hill we went left over the stile and crossed the meadow, going diagonally left aiming for the far gap in the hedge.

Climbing the stile we went through the gap in the hedge and crossed the next empty meadow going half right to the end of the bank ahead and the yellow marker sign beyond it. We crossed the grass track and continued over the next field. As the farmer had not reinstated the path we had to guess the route and walk across the crop, which was quite high, to the corner of the far hedge line with a yellow marker sign. On reaching it we kept straight ahead down the field, aiming for the finger-post, a large green container and a gate by the hedge - once again guessing where the path should be, as the correct route had not been marked out. Opening the stiff gate we turned right along the pavement.

At the sign for the Sewage Works we turned right. On the map this is marked as a bridleway track, so the ugly concrete road came as a shock. No doubt at weekends there will not be so much traffic rolling along it either! At the finger-posts sign we thankfully turned right through the gate, up a hill on to a pleasant track! We kept along it to the gate and turned left at the country lane. Ignoring a path on the right we kept along this narrow lane as it wound its way around to the river, with the Woods End Tavern on the right, then continued along it back to the start of the walk.
