Out
and about
with the Bolderos
Joy & Charles
Boldero are keen walkers, having walked many of the
long distance and shorter paths in Britain.
They retired
to Norfolk in 1983 because the county still had the
rural countryside many other counties had lost. Since
then they have written a walk book for North Norfolk
District Council, walk leaflets for Broadland District
Council and Norfolk County Council.
They have compiled
walks for magazines, 'Your Dog' and 'Out & About' and
wrote the 16 walks in the AA Leisure Guide to East Anglia.
They started writing walk articles for the Eastern Daily
Press in October 1986, then a monthly walk.
In February
1993 they started to write the walks weekly. They cover
the whole of Norfolk and parts of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire
for these walk articles.
Charles is
the map organiser and photographer and Joy the writer.
What they have found most enjoyable in writing the walks
are the Interest Points, and to help them they have
a wide range of books and files of snippets to help
them.
In 1990 they
decided to publish their first walk book, this was very
popular and now they have eight Walk books, and one
Cycle book. All these they publish and distribute themselves.
From time to time charities ask them to provide routes
for charity walks and this they are very pleased to
do. They have no wish to be 'up front' but more than
happy to help charities behind the scenes.
