The EDPs Sudan Baby Appeal comes
as the humanitarian crisis in Sudan escalates.
War in Sudan has created one of the worlds worst
humanitarian crises, which has left many thousands of
innocent people dead, injured and raped, as well as
more than a million homeless.
Our campaign with the experienced crisis
charity Hope and Homes for Children is aimed
at the very specific target of saving the lives of abandoned
babies in a single institution in Khartoum.

It comes as a national appeal for emergency
aid was launched (July 20, 2004) covering war refugees
across the devastated country.
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC),
representing the UKs leading international aid
agencies, is aiming to raise funds as a million people
are left homeless by violence in the Darfur region.
Government-backed militia known as the
Janjaweed are accused of carrying out the mass rape
of women and young girls. Around 30,000 people are believed
murdered.
The DEC charities appealing for help are
British Red Cross, Cafod, CARE International UK, Christian
Aid, Concern, Help the Aged, Merlin, Oxfam, Save the
Children, Tearfund and World Vision.
Unicef is among the organisations working
with Hope and Homes for Children and other charities
to provide food, medicine and shelter to the victims.
