Glad that "Norfolk Nick" is holding it's own again.

Well done lads.

I reckon that warrants a virtual pint of whatever you fancy - Matty included! Next trip to Norwich I'll go and admire.

Sounds like a gathering. I know little of Norwich. The roads wizz and I always find myself in the wrong area!

Just received a photo of " Norfolk Nick" plus Nevermind,  from Chandos.

It looks grand Nevermind.  Good carving and reproduction in plaque form.

Well done.  Let's hope more folks will look around and admire other little plaques in Norwich and in Norfolk in general, and replace any that have been vandalised or badly defaced.

"Congratulations to Ingo for a magnificent rendering of Norfolk Nick and to Matty for sponsoring it. Ingo is a true craftsman and Matty a true Norfolk lass. I am so glad that Nick has finally made his way back to hanging on the wall where he may leer at his leisure at all the girls who pass his way.    Kenneth."

Thank you.

Re: Goblin face on Castle Meadow

I think I should say that I did not go to school in Norwich, and never passed the Shirehall each day.  In fact I rarely went to Norwich as a child as the cost would have been to high.  The newspaper reporter got the wrong end of the stick there.or invented a better scenario.

But a good article if you ignore that error.

I also saw the article in today's EN.    Nick seems to be looking good - for a goblin!

If I was a rich person in a posh house I may well commission Ingo to do a carving to decorate the posh house.    Unfortunately, I am on a low income and in a small terraced house which will probably lose anything decent around here!

Yes, Great stuff - I can't wait to pop down and see it in situ. I hope that it generates some local interest, and perhaps we can find out if there was a reason for the original to be there, or if it was just a fun bit of embellishment.

I'm particularly impressed by Nevermind's skill, but also amazed at how a chance query has found the right mix of capable people to transform it into a reality. Yes, well done everyone!

Perhaps we should go for something bigger.....

One of my early childhood memories was of the colonnaded entrance to the old Hippodrome cinema where St Gile's Multistory car-park is... Nevermind? Wink <img src=">

Just joking... On the other hand, if there are any other blank walls in need of embellishment, perhaps Nevermind would be up for a commission?

Ha Strawman, you are still looking in on us then.
I also appreciated the dynamic that got us there in the end, people met who otherwise would not have done so and it is one of the rarely spoken of achievements the internet does, it actually brings people together physically.
For example, the 'raving mules', a group who met on here and went to pubs for beer and chat, developed online first, then there is the latest Noprwich North campaign, the team I was part of also formed online, so there is future for the internet, not just greyfaced geeks in cupboards.

Matty I'm sorry, I said 'i think she went to school in Norwich', so put this squarely down to my embellishment, what counted was that you had seen the old Nick for decades and so did others.

Now for pastures anew, commissions, anything I'm multiskilled and can adopt. Thanks for letting us know of the well wisher Celia, much appreciated. nevermind

That is marvellous- well done Nevermind and Matty, it is lovely to see someone putting a bit of Norwich back. I will go and have a look when the weather cools down a bit. I can't remember seeing it in the original state, even though we did used to park on the cattle market  and walk around that end to go to the shoe shop etc.

With holidays and illness I've only just caught up with this. Went round today and photographed the new "Norfolk Nick".
