Here's a link to the slide I took in the 1970s:

My scanner can't cope with slides so I photographed the slide projected
on a white wall. I'll see if I can get a proper scan during the week.
I found a goblin in Sheringham last week and I think it's an exact match to the missing goblin although the missing goblin has had the keystone bits chipped off:

If you're after authenticity, a visit to a reclamation yard might be the way forward.
When he's resurrected I think he should have a named.

Leol30, I have tried to get to those links you put up, even went on to your site and searched for them, but cannot find any of those goblin. I have to say your record of Norwich fabric is remarkable and I had a good look at all the stone carvings and other photos. Great stuff a photo museum that can be recommmended, thanks.
I am back to square one, still looking. What is so unusual with this plaque/carving is that it has no shaped background so to speak, its just the outline of the Goblins face and hat and the plaque is in that shape, so I will need a photo to find out his expression, as far as I remember he was not smiling, this is very important to find out, because I would not like to present a different moode, after all its hanging on the wall of the ex Shirehall prison cell block. nevermind

Mattyu should you read this, your letter has arrived, proper, and I shall act on it, as yet we are still finding the definate image of the little chap, but if you would like to give him a name, full well knowing that he was hanging on the back of Shirehall prison, please feel free to do so. Leol30 suggested giving him a name, thats fine with me. He has not been carved yet but I have a lovely bit of stone to do it in, as soon as I have the image. nevermind

Thats wonderful LeoL30! Thats the one!
Yes, the Sherringham one does look very similar, and in good nick.
If you have problems getting a scan, my flatbed scanner has a slide carrier, and gives reasonable results. I'm sure I can get it to a mutally accessible location ![Smile [:)]](/cs/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)

Nevermind, How about you post a request to the forum, for a " Name the Goblin", and ask them to submit some names.. Then we can all select one of those. Some of the readers are smart folks who could come up with something appropriate; and many names could be hilarious, giving us a bit of a laugh: after all the whole idea of replacement, compled with finding out the image was all done through this forum.
I think Leol30's idea of a name is excellent taking into account that it was positioned on the back of the Shirehall prison.
Give it go !

These are great pictures and although the Sheringham goblin is more pristine, he is slightly different, his nose is broader than that of the Shirehall Goblin. They both have lovely smiles and the back of Shirehall prison does not spring to mind when looking at them.
If strawman has the scanning business, then I could have an A4 copy of the chappie and get going with it.
Matty and Leol30 have suggested naming the little fellow and the suggestion box is open. Try and keeep it funny. So how about calling him 'Nick' just to get the ball rolling. nevermind

Dunno, he has a Bachanalian smile on him and he could have been a fore runner of the raving mules, after the session that is. He looks more like a Goblin than a Bachus or Green man. Usually, within a carving of a green man depiction you will have some leaves of sorts, some vines or oakleaves, here there is just wild hair, so I guessed a Goblin when I saw him years back. Its great to have found the picture and thanks to Leol30 for finding it and Matty who payed for the stone and the carving, we can now look forward to carving it.
Whats your idea of a name then, Keef? nevermind
PS what about a session soon, my fourlegged friend is very thirsty

Large size of Castle Meadow missing goblin
I don't think a scan will produce a result much better than the above as the slide is quite dark.
I'd go for the name Nick. It has context and is amusing.

Thanks for your offer of a scanning service, strawman, would you mind terribly if we change the heading on this thread to 'name the Shirehall Goblin'?, or add this phrase to the old thread name?.
Lastly how can we get in touch, shall we meet in the library of the forum, I will be clutching an Independent, probably wearing some off white chino's and a green anorak type jacket, if you like, just say when and what time, please. I shall probably use some Portland stone, I can get it smooth makes it easier to take a mould and its just a little harder to carve.
I have a digital camera I can borrow to take some shots during the process and put them up somewhere, not impossible, we'll see. nevermind

His name should be 'George'. It has class and, at the same time, that waggery for which we used to be known.
