Thank you for the advice. Cobbett is a wherritable font of wisdom

I plan to use my camel as a multi-purpose animal - ploughing my little plot, providing manure for it, providing milk for moi, and of course.... for transport. Do you suppose any net curtains will twitch in these 'ere parts as I glide by on my Ship of the Desert?

rabbits? When I was a kid people in the village used to keep rabbits for food and pick hogweed and dandelions from the verges to feed them. No doubt a practice left over from harder times in WW2 and before
Not as easy to milk as a camel though.
What about a goat? My grandmother used to keep goats when they lived too far away from a milk round but had no room for a cow.
They would eat your vegetable waste.
William Cobbetts Cottage economy will tell you how to keep a cow on a cottagers plot.

That old hogweed can be a bit dangerous.

Did'nt have you down as a "Cottager" Wallis.

Ordinary British hogweed is ok- can be a bit prickly if you have a sensitivity but the alien giant hogweed is a dangerous menace. The spines cause a nasty rash which is like a burn and then the skin suffers from subsequent photosensitivity for a long time. See link
I am always surprised that West Runton parish council allows this alien weed , which I thought was meant to be notified to Defra and destroyed, to thrive beside the road to the beach car park.

If one commits the act of sodomy with a cow, an ewe, or a camel, their urine and their excrements become impure, and even their milk may no longer be consumed. The animal must then be killed and as quickly as possible and burned.

Sooner will a camel pass through a needle's eye than a great man be "discovered" by an election.

Said sheep showing classic signs of Class A 'erratic behaviour' and 'circling' [NB gardener, the latter usu. associated wiv bacterial meningitis, as you know] before collapsin' like a sack of spanners.

Much pursin' of lips and teef suckin' about exporting meat from opium-raised sheep to the EU

Driving back from Fakenham yesterday I saw about 15-20 giant hogweed plants towering up in the hedgerow, they had been barried off and signed telling the unwary to keep away from them as could cause severe burns if the sap came into contact with the skin.

The same health warning should apply, a fortiori, to unwary voters during canvassing for the Norwich North by-election. Do not, IMHO, shake hands with anyone sporting a Blue Rosette...
