I would hope it is being trialled in Kings Lynn and if sucessful has to come here.
As no one else seems to have a clue what to do. But don't forget Prince of Wales Rd is safer than ever, Just a few hiccups, the odd murder here and there, occasional serious injury, a few drownings in the river nothing to worry about, and of cause you know it was getting much better until it got worse.

Yup I suppose an idea of what the river was like then can be gleaned from Cotman and Crome even though they were painting well after these reports. On one of these transcriptions there were weavers who had hanged themselves from looms. I wonder how many of the yobs on Prince of Wales Road are descended from those poor beggars who were working away in homes crowded in yards in the city.

Bring in the Licensed street marshals the police obviously can't cope.

True! I was thinking more of his character in Death Wish. Met him in a little town in Vermont USA about 20 years ago, nice fella to talk to, it was at a Ben and Jerries ice cream shop.

The answer is to tax the little s*ds who use it so they don't have so much money to spend.Anyone in employment should be paying council tax whether they live with their mums or not. I reckon some kids who left school with a few GCSEs and have got a job and live at home have more disposable income than many young graduate professionals who are having to pay back their student loans. And if it has got to the point that the police want to shut the road to traffic why are they not asking the licensing authorities to revoke licences? Perhaps they protest too much and are just trying to let us know what a tough job they have. Or 70s cops in pockets aren't really a thing of the past.

This morning's news carried a report of a lot of money being put into an extended safe drinking campaign by the companies who make and sell alcohol. Good plan- they could do more, like not serve drunks. And the government should launch its own hard hitting campaign at the very young drinker showing how teenagers die when theya re drunk ( like the kid at Newquay the other day and the drownings at Riverside) But once again the person on the bench at the BBC to comment on the matter of alcohol use was from the Institute of Alcohol Studies http://www.ias.org.uk/ They sound official don't they. As if they are a government research body. Wrong Even their web site looks as if they are independent and have no bias. Wrong They are sponsored by the United Kingdom Temperance Alliance Hardly an independent view on alcohol use and I wonder if this is deliberate or just BBC slackness.

It seems, according to our local TV, that such problems were reaching massive proportions in my home town, Victoria and in Vancovuer.
A new system, backed by the police and the nightclub owners has been introduced in some establishments. You get a card which gives your identity, address etc prior to entry. You zap your card through a machine something akin to the debit card at the grocery store. If you cause any trouble, then your ID is flagged.
The police reckon this method will deter those who cause trouble, as when their mates want a social night out, if you have a tagged ID, you may as well stay home. Only a few popular clubs have implimented this so far, but it is hoped that others will be encouraged to join. Each nightclub has a large red sign in the window showing it is participating in the scheme. I is called Barwatch I think.. The clubs which hand out bans can only use them for their own specific establishment. Not sure of the details regarding the length of ban etc.
Been on the news several times, but try as I may I cannot find an article to show the source on the net..
