I have to admit, I'm always pleasantly surprised by the number of toilets in the city. Having lived in the US, where there are no public bathrooms, and where cafés will only let you use their loo if you buy something (how many times have I forked out for a blueberry muffin when all I wanted was a wee?!), I always feel very safe in the knowledge that wherever I am in Norwich I can find somewhere to go - The Forum, The Mall, Jarrolds or one of the other department stores.
The trouble with having public loos actually on the street, like the ones in Chapel Field Gardens or by the Marketplace, is that they tend to attract drug users. Hence the spooky blue lighting in both.
I understand that there are plans to build new space-saving loos in SW Norfolk.
